July 2025 Newsletter

As we look back on June, we’re filled with gratitude and pride for everything our incredible community has achieved together.

At the start of the month, we laced up our running shoes for the Brodstock Ultra Marathon, raising vital funds to keep our work reaching those who need it most. To everyone who ran, cheered, sponsored or donated – thank you for going the distance with us!

On top of these amazing milestones, June was full of everyday acts of kindness. So many local companies, groups and kind-hearted individuals have been collecting food and essentials for our community. These donations mean the world – they help us support families, individuals and those who might otherwise go without.

From ultra-marathons to food collections, none of this would happen without our supporters, volunteers, sponsors and friends. You remind us every day what’s possible when people come together to look after one another.

Thank you for standing with us – and for being the hope in Focus4Hope. Here’s to a summer filled with more connection, compassion and community care.

In June your donations allowed us to…

A Look Back at June – Powered by Your Kindness

June was bursting with energy, and thanks to your incredible support, we were able to reach so many people across our community with care, compassion, and practical help. Here’s a snapshot of what you helped us achieve:

  • 18 crisis parcels delivered – supporting 23 adults and 10 children during tough times

  • SEND Support sessions – Continued our ADHD course, supporting Parents and Carers.

  • 2 senior trips – giving  30 older adults the chance to get out, socialise and enjoy themselves.

  • Afternoon Tea fun – with 80 seniors sharing laughter, conversation and cake and Cinema Trips with 27 seniors

  • 60 households accessed our Social Supermarket – making food more affordable

  • 82 attendees joined our Monday Coffee & Craft Clubs – building friendships through creativity

  • Handed out 13 temporary accommodation parcels to 16 adults and 5 kids.

  • 113 Community Warmth meals shared – warming both hearts and bellies

  • 5 starter kits provided for new homes – helping people take their next step with dignity

Whether you gave time, money, skills or simply cheered us on, you’re a vital part of this journey. Thank you for standing with us.

Focus4Hope was named Community Organisation of the Year at the Pride in Diversity Awards!

We’re so proud to share that Focus4Hope was named Community Organisation of the Year at the Pride in Diversity Awards!

To make the night even more special, our wonderful volunteer John was awarded Volunteer of the Year! His commitment, compassion, and energy have touched so many lives – we’re over the moon to see him recognised for everything he does.

We feel honoured and grateful beyond words. To our dedicated team, amazing volunteers, trustees, generous supporters, and everyone in our local community –thank you. This is your award too.

A big shoutout as well to all the other inspiring finalists and winners, including the brilliant Getting Clean CIC, who took home Charity of the Year.

What a night, what a community. We headed home with full hearts and even more motivation to keep bringing hope where it’s needed most.

Volunteer of the Month

James Drurey

This month, we’re delighted to recognise James Drurey as our Volunteer of the Month!

His dedication, kindness and positive attitude make such a difference to our team and the wider community. Volunteers like James remind us what Focus4Hope is all about – showing up for others and spreading hope in everything we do.

Thank you, James, for your time, energy and unwavering commitment. We’re so grateful to have you with us, and we can’t wait to see all the good you’ll continue to do!

Business of the Month

Romantica Beds

We’re sending a massive thank you to the incredible team at La Romantica Beds, our Business of the Month!

La Romantica Beds have been unwavering supporters of Focus4Hope, and their generosity and commitment mean the world to us. Not only have they stepped up as headline sponsors for FocusFest – helping us bring this amazing community event to life – but they continually go above and beyond to support our work throughout the year.

La Romantica, you are such an important part of the Focus4Hope family. We feel so lucky to have your trust, enthusiasm and kindness behind us every step of the way. From all of us – thank you for believing in our mission and for helping us bring hope to so many.

Here are some upcoming events that you can sponsor or get involved in!

Family Fun Day

Saturday 26th July is all about family, fun, and community - and we’d love you to be part of it! Focus4Hope is hosting a joyful day with a magician, petting zoo, and face painting, and we’re looking for sponsors to help bring it all to life. Your support will be recognised with your logo on event banners and posters, shoutouts on social media, and an invitation to attend the event, volunteer, or simply enjoy the day.

Fortnightly Homeless Feeds

Every other Friday, our team is in Leeds City Centre supporting over 100 rough sleepers with hot meals, drinks, essentials - and sleeping bags.

Feeding Community Report 2025

The new Feeding Community Report 2025 by Feeding Britain highlights just how powerful Affordable Food Clubs can be – and we’re so proud to be part of that impact.

The report shows that Affordable Food Clubs like ours help thousands of people access healthy, affordable food while saving money every week. But it’s not just about food – these clubs also reduce isolation and help people find extra support when they need it most.

At Focus4Hope, our Food Club – Calderdale’s first Social Supermarket – was launched with FoodSavers to give people a more sustainable, dignified alternative to emergency food parcels. For a small weekly cost, members get fresh fruit, vegetables, store-cupboard items and household essentials – plus a warm drink, cake and a safe space to connect.

The report shows how this holistic approach helps families weather the cost-of-living crisis while building stronger, more resilient communities. We’re proud to be part of this growing movement for lasting change – and we’ll keep working to make sure no one is left behind.

This is why we do what we do.
